RE: Fulton NY area campground recommendations????

Love the Renaissance Festival. You will have a great time! (and... when we go we always stay at Fairhaven!)

RE: What would you do?

Unfortunately, some people just have no respect for others personal space or property. You wouldn't walk through other peoples hotel rooms to get to a balcony, yet some people think that it is perfectly OK to walk through others campsites. A majority of people are very nice and respectful when camping, but obviously a minority believe that life is all about themselves and obviously the parents are setting a real good example for their children. Picking on a defenseless animal is inexcuseable. You definitely did the right thing.

RE: Fulton NY area campground recommendations????

You will be very close to Fair Haven Beach State Park. Beautiful park, try to get a sit on the bluff if you go - can't beat the view and less sites. Plenty for the kids to do too. If you are willing to be just a little further away from Fulton, Sampson State Park on Seneca Lake is awesome. Sites are huge and there is a ton to do there, as well. Brennan's Beach is almost as far away as Sampson, and you will find a lot to to do, but you will be packed in like sardines. I know some people love it and don't mond the close proximity to their neighbors, but I am not one of those people.

RE: Cool your fridge/freezer BEFORE you leave

Leave ours on all summer. Condiments, soda, water, beer all ready to go. Put what we need in there the morning we leave and transfer the beer, water, and soda to a cooler.

RE: Super slide stops?

Have an 215 SSO Antigua - haven't used the bars once and no problems. If your switch is in the same spot mine is (above the fridge), the real young ones aren't going to get to it anyway.

RE: UREGENT Refrigerator HELP

Higher is colder on my dometic. As far as placing it on the third fin, there is no way the electric sensor cord would reach that far in my fridge! BTW, I knock my plastic piece off all the time trying to pack too many things into the fridge, no big deal!

RE: all packed for 1st trip but what about the appliances?

We have cabinet space for everything, and it is tightly enough packed that it can not move around. The only thing we have on the floor when travelling is our memroy foam mattress and our cooler (and the cooler we could actually put in thr truck). When we are camping, we will keep the coffee pot out constantly, unless we have friends staying with us and we need the extra space.

RE: locking your hitch?

Lock our hitch on and off the truck and always lock the toungue on the trailer, both on hitch and off. Better safe than sorry!

RE: Firewood

New York State Parks strongly suggest that you do not bring in wood transported from other areas, but no laws or limitations so far. Since we camp mostly within a 100 mile radius, not a big deal, but if I was coming from further away I would buy local wood.

RE: Is anyone towing their Hybrid with a Tacoma / midsize truck?

Tow my Antigua 215SSO with a Nissan Frontier. Gas mileage is terrible. Towing is OK, but obviously not an ideal situation. Had the truck first, HTT second and will definitely go bigger on my TV next time.

RE: STARCRAFT TRAVELSTAR 21SSO

We have the sister rig Antigua 215SSO. We love it. Did have to set up in the rain two weekends ago, and it was a bit of a drag, but no harder than a PUP, and shorter time. Also, you can always just lay out one bunk if you want and worry about the other bunk end in better weather. The slide is nice, gives it a ton more room, and lots of storage inside and out. We've camped mostly in state parks, but we have had electric hookups and gone without. In both cases, no problems.

RE: Anybody had this problem?

OK, got it figured out and saved myself a trip to the dealer. Problem was two-fold. The automatic pilot light ignitor needed to be adjusted. I pulled it and turned on the furnace and no spark, so I cleaned it and set the ignitor a little closer to the ground and viola, sparks. Put it back in hoping that was the only problem. Still no, heat. Adjusted the propane regulator little by little, and eventually, heat! Thanks for everyone's advice, definitely pointed me in the correct direction!

RE: Anybody had this problem?

Thanks for the suggestions. Sounds like a fairly common problem. The furnace is a Suburban. It did work, both when we first picked our trailer up and went on our first trip this year, and then at the start of our second trip after the thermostat was "fixed." I would think that if it was a regulator problem that it would not work at all, or am I wrong with that assumption? If it is something minor I would like to get it taken care of myself. Still under warranty, but don't want to spend $100 in gas to get a five minute fix if I can avoid it.

RE: Anybody had this problem?

Have LP gas, stove works. Blower and furnace did not work when boondocking or on shore power. Electrode is clean as a whistle on the outside contact (did not look inside yet).

Anybody had this problem?

Just got back from having my HTT out for its second trip. Over a month ago, on the first trip, the heater and blower stopped working on the third day of a 5 day trip. We had used it to heat the camper up in the morning and right before we went to bed, so it might have run a total of 4 or 5 times. Dropped it off at the dealer on the way home, was fixed in a week. Daler said it was the thermostat. Have had it in the driveway for the last three weeks, checked twice to make sure the new thermostat was working - no problems. Leave for this weekend. Cold and rainy, go to turn on the furnace to dry out after setting up and warm the trailer and ... nothing! At least the first trip we were at an electric site and had a small ceramic heater, this last weekend we were boondocking and had nothing.
So, get home today, figure I solve this problem. Stop at Lowe's and get a small digital and programmable thermostat. Install new thermostat. Blower box now works, but no heat. Pull the cover on the frunace which has an automatic pilot light - no ignition. See nothing in the small window on the furnace. Anyone have an idea or experienced similar problems?

Whestone Gulf State Park in New York. Second time out with HTT. First time was over a month ago and I am suffering withdrawal. Can't wait!

Never been to Hamlin, so can't speak to that park, but love Letchworth. Very beautiful and some great trails.

RE: Finger Lakes region of New York

If you want to be right on one of the finger lakes, do not pick Watkins Glen State Park or Letchworth. Both are beautiful, and are worth a stay, but neither are right on one of the lakes. Try Sampson or Cayuga Lake state parks if you want a park on the water. Taughannock is beautiful as well, and even though the campsites are not on the lake area, there is a beach/day use area that is a short walk or drive from the sites.
